A Sweet Gift.

She said, “This little old gray-haired woman stopped in today, and dropped off some poppy-seed bread for you. You better come pick it up before I eat it.”
Now, the little old gray-haired woman, is my Mom’s best friend, Linda. They lived on the same street when my friend Holly and I were babies. They changed our diapers together, (which we hear about often), traded babysitting, and we all grew up as the best of friends. Holly and I are only a month apart in age, and my sister and Holly’s younger sister are also only a couple of months apart. My parents quit having kids, and Linda had one more, she was like everyone’s baby sister. (Holly is the only person that I actually know who I have shared my blog with! Hi, Holly!)
Linda has some good stories to share about me, and is just like a second Mom to me.
She knows that Poppy Seed Bread is my absolute favorite treat. Any occasion at Linda’s, usually has two things that are a staple. A bowl of M&M’s, and Poppy Seed Bread.
You know how there are some things that just taste better when someone else makes it? For me, it is Poppy Seed Bread. For one thing, if I made it much, I wouldn’t be able to heave my ass off of the couch. It does make two loaves at a time, and is not exactly calorie free. It is delicious.
I sent her a note on Facebook thanking her for my super yummy treat, and asked her if she was really going to let my Mom talk about her like that. My Mom is older after all.
So I will share the infamous Poppy Seed Bread, or Bird Seed Bread (that’s what we called it when we were kids), with you. It is full of yum.
Poppy Seed Bread
1 box yellow cake mix
1 package of coconut cream pudding (instant)
4 eggs
½ cup oil
¼ cup poppy seeds
Soak poppy seeds in 1 cup of warm water for ½ an hour.
Mix all ingredients. Beat for four minutes at top speed. Pour into greased loaf pans. Bake for 45 minutes at 350 degrees.
Makes 2 loaves.

Hi to you too!!!!! If we can get even ONE more person to fall in love with Bird Seed Bread then our destinys will have been fulfilled.
That sounds lovely.
