Those who can’t teach, teach gym.*

So it would seem that my oldest daughter has decided finally to take up a minor in education to go along with her studio arts degree.  I am pleased.  She can still pursue her painting, drawing, and domination over the entire art world, while hopefully earning an actual income, and being able to pay her own actual bills.

I was starting to get worried that she was going to become some weirdo, recluse who painted and drew pictures of her many, many cats all day long, and lived in her parent’s basement until she was 45.  Based on Mack’s love of all things feline, I actually had a wicked nightmare about this recently.  (Seriously, if you could see all the cat pictures my daughter posts on Facebook, and has saved on her computer (138 pictures), you would think she was some sort of cat psycho, for seriously.)

Things with the BF going to graduate school are on a temporary hold, at least at the moment.  All the schools that he was interested in attending had a pretty high application fee, that he couldn’t quite come up with in time to start for Spring, and he may hold off even during the Fall term.  We shall see.  Right now he’s looking for some sort of film job in Yellow State City, and although I didn’t think there would be much of a market for a film degree in our dear state, or Yellow State City, apparently there is.  It has been proven once again that I know nothing.  So he’s looking for jobs, she is looking into this education minor, and we’ll see what happens.

I am just happy that it doesn’t seem like they will be jetting off to NY or California anytime soon.  They can, I’ll live, but I’d rather they were right where they currently are, thankyouverymuch.

Anyway, I am pleased that some of these things are happening.  I am actually in a way glad that the BF is planning on moving to Yellow State City.  I hope that he can keep my daughter focused on school.  He was a really good student, graduated in 3 1/2 years, now that she’s not travelling to go see him every single weekend, or him coming to visit her, maybe now she can focus a bit more on her studies.

As long as it’s not the study of cats.

Hey, she could become a veterinarian! Or someone who paints those pictures in the office of every veterinarian!

I like Libby’s idea. E’s pediatrician has pictures of cats all over the office. Like in every exam room, in the waiting room, every hallway. There are probably pictures of them in the bathrooms. Right there, she could paint pictures instead of the creepy prints and make enough from one office to live for years. 😉
